Review of SONOrdic

Wow. We're spectacularly proud and honored by the kind words "Recorded A Cappella Review Board" (RARB) had for us in their review of our latest album “SONOrdic”. We would like to use this opportunity to thank the vocal-groups who were willing to be a part of our release: VOX11, Vocal Line, POSTYR, Songs of the moment and Vox North. We could not have done it without them! A special thanks also goes out to our incredibly hard-working music producer Lars Reker and our conductor Tine Ohrt Hoejgaard.

Auditions for soprano

Sono is in search of a new soprano.

If you have an awesome singing voice and would like to spend your tuesday evenings rehearsing with an ambitious and motivated a capella group - we would love to have you!

Unwanted visitor on the server

Unfortunately, unwanted visitors have forced their way into our webserver. As a result a rather alternative description of us is circling Facebook. Furthermore, our recent blog entries along with our concert calendar have vanished. We are working to get things up and running again.

SONO is recording Nordic beauties

SONO is in studio during the spring giving beautiful Nordic songs the SONO treatment.
But of you think it's only going to be quiet ballads, think again. There will be plenty of delicious grooves as always.

We are still keeping the details a bit secret but it isn't easy, because it already sounds promising. And we are looking very much forward to sharing it.

SONO is building

SONO's very own Peter Agger has generously offered to have a small recording studio at his house. And his kind and very understanding wife has also agreed to the project. All the SONO singers have therefore been working very hard and the result is really great. It will make it so much easier for us to record all the deliciousness that we make at rehearsals. You have something to look forward to!

SONO in a new reality - welldone!

Thank you so much to the wonderful audience that attended SONOs concert at Aarhus festival 2013!
It was an amazing night where SONO truly lived up to the festival theme: Signs of life - in a new reality." Three very skilled artists kept us company and created spectacular glow-in-the-dark art to accompany the music. So a big Thank You to the artists as well. It was inspiring for both singers and audience.

SONOs website back on track

SONOs website is now up and running again after a longer breakdown. The reason for the brakedown was moving from one web host to another. As a consequence of that manoeuvre some of our latest blog updates disappeared. We are sorry about that. We welcome you back!

It's time for the annual Christmas concert

December is upon us and while the snow is falling outside dressing the country in white garments, SONO is preparing for the annual Christmas concert in our hometown, Aarhus. This year Local Vocal will be joining us at Bora Bora (by Brobjergskolen) as the doors open at 7.30 pm on December 18th. We guarantee great Christmas spirits but we will also be presenting new material as well as some of our greatest hits for our loyal audience. We hope to see many of you before you head off to be with your families. At the concert it will also be possible to buy some last minute Christmas gifts, as we will be selling copies of both of the SONO albums. MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Playground reviewed by 'RARB'

SONO's new album Playground has been reviewed by The Recorded A Cappella Review Board (RARB) in the US. The album was graded 4.5 out of 5, of which we are very proud!

New members wanted!

SONO has sadly had to say goodbye to some of the regulars. That means that there is room for new faces and voices who want to help shape SONO's vocal expression in the future.

We are looking for a groovy bass singer and/or vocal percussionist and a first tenor. So if you a and expert in vocal beats, if you have a soft deep man's voice or if you juggle all the high notes with ease, please hit the Contact button in the top menu to get an audition.

New spring time arrangements

SONO has opened the spring season with brand new arrangements. Among the arrangers is Morten Kjær who has created a new groovey arrangement for SONO and it already sounds really cool. Morten visited the rehearsal studio himself and without revealing too much it is safe to say, that the arrangement really took wings. So there are plenty of new things to look forward to at the spring concerts!

Merry Christmas

SONO would like to say a BIG thank you to all the lovely people who helped make the release party for Playground an absolutely amazing night. We are both happy and proud to see how well our little "baby" has been received. It has been overwhelming!
We have released Playground into the world and we hope that it will be received just as well out there as it was on December 10th.

After the release SONO went on a well deserved Christmas holiday so that we can all be rested and ready for new experiences in 2012.

Release

As mentioned in the concert calender the date of the release concert for the new SONO album is approaching. Everyone in SONO is looking forward to presenting the result of all the hard work. It has been a long process but the result is amazing.

On the album, titled Playground, you will find a mix of delicious pop, beautiful balads and even a bit of rock. Some of the songs have been testet at some of SONOs concerts in the past year - among these Også om dagen that had a perfect premiere at this years concert at Aarhus festival. Other songs have been kept secret until the release concert and will seem brand new to even the most loyal fans.

Playground will be released on Saturday December 10th at Atlas in Aarhus. Tickets can be purchased here on the SONO site under Music, Concert calendar. But hurry before they are sold out!

Playground will be ready for purchase from December 10th in iTunes and here on the site where you can also sign up for an e-mail reminder when the cd is available.

SONO seeks a new bass singer

There has been an opening for a new singer in SONO. So if you are walking around with a groovy deep mans voice please contact SONO for an audition.
SONO is an active vocal group where demands for skills and musicality are high. But there is also plenty of room for fun and creativity. Concert activities span wide from church – and Christmas concerts to company arrangements and tours abroad. So becoming SONO’s new bass singer will not be boring!

A busy start to the fall season

SONO has had a busy couple of weeks. On Tuesday August 30th the scene was set at Brobjergskolen in Aarhus for two amazing concerts at Aarhus Festival. A great number of people had found their way to the venue that evening and the room was packed for both concerts. As is tradition it was a lovely musical evening. The brand new arrangement of the song “Også om dagen” was also very well received by the audiences – the song will appear on the coming album.
On September 9th-11th SONO returned to the studio to complete the recordings for the new album. Everyone worked long, hard and intensely – and the final result will surely show this. Before long the album will be ready for presentation.

Concert at Aarhus Festival is coming up!

In 2010 SONO began the tradition of doing a great concert at Aarhus Festival. Last year an overwhelming number of happy people turned up and helped make the night unforgettable. In fact the small room filled up completely in no time! Therefore there will be two concerts this year: at 6:30 pm and 8:30 pm on TUESDAY AUGUST 30TH. If you have read this blog previously you will know that you can now buy tickets online. But they will of course also be soled at the entrance.
We are looking forward to an amazing night where brand new arrangements from the coming album will be presented. We hope to see many happy people at the concerts that will take place at Brobjergskolen, Studio Scene 2, Frederiks Allé in Aarhus.

SONO is going on holiday

After another lovely and efficient weekend in the studio SONO is going on a well-deserved holiday. However we cannot lay off work completely as we have many exiting projects coming up. We are looking forward to seeing all of you after the holidays where a concert at Aarhus Festival is waiting.

SONO returns to the studio

SONO returns to the studio on Friday June 10th to record three more songs for the coming album. Our latest single Lovestoned suggests the high quality vocal music we made the last time we went into the studio and we are excited to repeat the success. New website

Welcome to SONOs brand new website. We have spend the last half a year getting this site up and running and we are indeed proud of the result. SONO is working on a new album

After a lovely Christmas concert at Kassernescenen in Aarhus and a well-deserved holiday, SONO is back in business. At the moment we are working on a new album - more information on that later. We had a fantastic 2010 with many great experiences and we are now embarking on 2011. We hope it will be another great SONO year.

New SONO video on youTube.

SONO's concert at AAVF, Aarhus Vocal Festival in Aarhus Hall of Music in the spring 2010 was recorded on video. The songs are/will be made available on YouTube. We are very proud to present another song from the concert - 'Glor på vinduer', a song by the Danish singer-songwriter Anne Linnet. Our version of the song is arranged by Anna Vestergaard and Jacob Albertsen, both from SONO. You can find the amazing video on this site or here on YouTube.

SONO during Aarhus Festival

After the amazing experience with Tina Dickow at Copenhagen Jazzhouse SONO has returned to Aarhus. And we have returned for more lovely musical moments. The concert in Copenhagen was followed by yet another performance with Tina Dickow - this time at Bispetorv in Aarhus at the opening of Aarhus Festival on August 27th. We are very thankful that Tina wanted us to join her onstage again! Bispetorv was completely packed and the atmosphere was incredible. Already on the following Tuesday we opened the doors of our practise
room and invited anyone who might be interested to come in for an intimate concert. The support was overwhelming! The room was packed full with a wonderful audience who, despite of lack of space, agreed to have a great musical evening.

SONO has sung with Tina Dickow!

In the spring of 2010 SONO entered a competition for the best cover version of a song by the Danish singer-songwriter Tina Dickow. SONO came in at an amazing 1st place and therefore won a performance with Tina Dickow along with 4 other contestants. On August 22nd we entered the stage at Copenhagen Jazzhouse with Tina Dickow. It was an unforgettable experience, and we would like to thank the wonderful audience for great support, the 4 other winners of the competition for beautiful musical moments and of course Tina Dickow for the amazing experience it was to perform with her.
