The conductor
My name is Tine Ohrt Højgaard and I work as a choir leader, teacher, arranger and singer. I have a master degree in music from Aalborg University specializing in rhythmic choir management.
I started my career as a vocal coach in large musical productions and since then I have conducted all kinds of choirs form children’s choirs, small jazz ensembles to large gospel choirs.
Besides being the conductor of SONO I am a teacher at Kleitrup Efterskole where I teach music and mathematics. Furthermore I teach rhythmic choir management at Aalborg University and the Royal Academy of Music in Aalborg.
I also do workshops in choir management for both future and present rhythmic choir conductors as well as small and large workshops for everyone from children to experienced singers. In my workshops I focus on the terms groove and feeling as the rhythmic foundation of the music. I have also worked a lot with circle singing, a form of singing that was originally created by vocal legend Bobby McFerrin. In this form of music a group of singers improvise the music on the spot.
In short: I love vocal music and I passionately share my joy of the music while constantly exploring the genre and its possibilities.
